This privacy policy explains how PetWord ("the app", "we", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information.

What the app does

PetWord uses your device's camera to detect pets and sends snapshots to cloud AI services that generate fictional "thoughts" from your pet's point of view. The thoughts are creative entertainment, not real pet communication.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. This is stored securely via Firebase Authentication.

Camera images

When you tap the camera button to generate a thought, the app captures one or more snapshots and sends them to cloud AI services (Google Gemini and Groq) for analysis. These images are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers. The AI services use the images solely to generate a thought and discard them after processing.

Credit and purchase data

We store your credit balance (free, purchased, and subscription credits) in Google Firebase Firestore, linked to your account. This includes timestamps of when your account was created and your last subscription transaction ID.

Usage analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as which features are used, how often thoughts are generated, and purchase events. This helps us improve the app. Analytics data is not tied to advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps. We do not use App Tracking Transparency (ATT) because we do not perform cross-app tracking.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. These reports include device model, OS version, and a stack trace of the crash. They do not contain personal information or camera images.

Voice synthesis

When speaking is enabled, the generated thought text is sent to a cloud text-to-speech service (Google or Groq depending on your voice selection) to produce audio. Only the text is sent — no images or personal data. The audio is generated and returned; the text is not stored by the TTS service.

Locally saved content

Photos and video clips you save (Moments) are stored on your device in the app's local storage. They are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly share them using the Share button.
